The 3rd District of Leyte’s Next Generation of Artisans
“Products are not just part of a production process but it is all about sharing.”
From connecting a craft to identity and continuing it as a generational heritage, the USWAG Leyte Product Development Program of Design Center of the Philippines shows how a community can able to transform its local materials into utilitarian and symbolic objects.
Together with UST’s Center for Conservation of Cultural Property and Environment in the Tropics and The 3rd District of Leyte, the product development program aims to create a strong and impactful engagement about entrepreneurship development grounded on culture.
As the Leyte makers mark the most tangible manifestations of their immaterial cultural heritage, these next-generation artisans will craft their goods and shape the economy reaching far beyond neighboring locations but a whole nation.
