"What we need are partners who will have the same appreciation for developing what it is we already have in our country, that is good for sustainability and closing the loop on fashion." Director Celia Elumba, DOST-Philippine Textile and Research Institute

In Part 4: Future Fabric, stakeholders in the local textile and fashion sectors work together to bridge gaps in industrial production of woven and nonwoven fabric from pineapple fibers. This highlights the role of DOST-PTRI in building a robust textile industry, together with Creative Definitions, I Am JUANA Clothing, and Asia Textile Mills and Ananas Anam Philippines.

The Pinyapel Flagship Project will be presented at the Sustainability Solutions Exchange 2022 (https://sustainability.ph) on 23-25 March. Under the creative direction of Tony Gonzales, it features an expanded network of raw material suppliers, processors, and product development partners presenting artisanal and industrial manufacturing for the home, fashion and packaging sectors.

This project builds on the Pinyapel pioneering collaboration in 2019, which bagged a Wood Pencil for Future Impact in Environment and Sustainability at the prestigious D&AD Awards.
